After class, you will then have breakfast, Italian-style . You have the day to do exactly what your heart desires. We have some planned activities such as hikes, cooking classes, or exploring scenic towns of the area. Or, you may choose to play golf on the stunning 18 hole course of Antognolla. You may also just relax at the villa, have lunch on the terrace, or swim in the gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the Tiber valley!
In the afternoon, there will be a second Pilates class offered, such as a myofacial stretch class or a restoration class. Evenings you will be served a 4-course dinner Umbrian-style, complete with wine pairings of the region!
More than 20 years ago I began practicing Pilates to correct postural issues and neck and shoulder pain. I was truly inspired and amazed by the changes that Pilates made to my physical and mental well-being.
After retirement from a career in technology and the fashion industry at the age of 62, I studied Pilates, becoming an internationally accredited Pilates trainer achieving my Nationally Certified Pilates Trainer (NCPT) and Buff Bones accreditation. I currently teach at Bellevue Club, Vitality Pilates, as well as in my own studio. Additionally, I am a certified yoga teacher and level three Reiki Master.
My Philosophy is simple: Be Strong and Love It! Life is full of adventures and challenges and I want to step up to embrace them. I promote a healthy and adventurous lifestyle no matter one’s age or fitness level. Nothing brings me greater joy than to see people become stronger so that they can live a healthier life.
I have found that Pilates is a transformative practice and I want to inspire others to keep their bodies and mind moving. Physical activity and adventure have always been paramount in my life. I have traveled to 6 continents and more than 80 countries. Along with teaching Pilates, I work with Village Volunteers as a member of their board of directors.
Jo Ann is the President and founder of Tensile Strength Studio and Barrington Yoga Loft located in Barrington, Illinois. The studios offer Pilates apparatus and mat, Yoga, a variety of fitness classes, continuing education and Arcus workshops.
Jo Ann began her fitness journey 34 years ago as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor working in health clubs. She discovered Pilates while searching for a discipline that would unite her personal training expertise with an in-depth study of movement science including alignment and function.
She opened Tensile Strength Studio in 2008 where she mentors instructors, teaches individuals and group classes and directs all facets of the business. Jo Ann has expertise in working with a diverse clientele including professional athletes, children, and individuals needing pre/post rehabilitation. She enjoys traveling to teach workshops internationally and nationally to inspire others in the Pilates world.
Pilates classes will be held in this beautiful ancient Church of Santa Maria Maddalena.
